Thiruvalluvar drawing in Thirukkural

The World Classical Tamil Conference is helping people come up with their creative best. In Thulasi Saravanan, 29, it has made her sketch a portrait of Thiruvalluvar using Thirukkural. “I have drawn the Tamil poet as he appears in the Conference logo using all the 1,330 couplets,” she explains.

It took her 30 hours, a pencil to outline and five pens to come up with the 133-cm-long, 49.5-cm-wide image.

“It is a small effort of mine to create awareness among the public on Thirukkural, which, I think, should be the guiding principle of everybody's life.”

Ms. Thulasi took a week to complete her effort. And this is not her first attempt. She has done a similar work on Mahatma Gandhi and Abdul Kalam. “The Mahatma Gandhi image has been made using his sayings in Tamil, English, Hindi and Malayalam.”

The Kalam drawing won the appreciation from the man himself, she adds. Along with her husband Saravanan she runs a Hindi training centre in Saibaba Colony.
